What are the indications for ipratropium?

- Bronchospasm secondary to asthma or COPD
- Prominent bronchospasm secondary to airway burns, smoke inhalation or chest infection.

What is the dosage for ipratropium?
A
0.5mg for adults and children only once.

What is the usual preparation for ipratropium?
A
Administer Nebulised undiluted in combination with 5mg salbutamol. Using air as the driving gas for COPD patients / oxygen as the driving gas for Asthma patients

What is the MOA for ipratropium?
A
Ipratropium is a bronchodilator that helps open the airways. It works by blocking acetylcholine receptors, preventing nerve signals that cause airway tightening, leading to bronchodilation.
