IOD 2015 Operational Planning Flashcards
What are the two types of responses as it relates to an operation?
Immediate response = quick formulation of a plan (circumstances exist that require the situation to be resolved immediately)
Planned response = time is on the agent’s side (ability to gather information, analyze the information, and create an operational plane with all relevant factors taken into consideration)
Difference between responses is time
What are the 3 operational plan characteristics?
- Completeness = take into account all information and plan for possible scenarios
- Flexibility = human beings will create unforeseen circumstances, so need to minimize risks and surprises
- Simplicity = team members know their roles and responsibilities (don’t want to confuse team members)
What are the 4 types of intelligence?
- General intelligence = information gathered during the course of an investigation (ie. Subjects normal daily routine and might be useful for setting the time of the operation)
- Personal intelligence = “the players” (all information on subject and any/all associates)
- Geographic intelligence = ensure correct location and take into account neighborhood, residences, businesses, and other locales (location, structure, other considerations, special considerations)
- Other sources of intelligence = local LEOs and databases
What is one of the most important rules to remember about operational planning?
If you are unable to attend the brief, you do not participate
note: may still perform administrative duties like record checks or radio duties
