4 ways to identify a suspect
Formal visual procedure photo montage or ID parade
Forensic examination
Voice identification
Finger prints, palm print or foot prints
Conducting a formal identification procedure
M-montage, photo montage must be presented
O-others must be at least 7 other photos
R- record a written record of procedure taken
P- procedure, follow all relevant regulations and procedures.
A- as soon as possible
I- included, tell the victim the suspect May or may not be included.
N- not ID the suspect for the victim in the line up
When a formal identification procedure does not have to be carried out.
R- refuses, suspect refuses to take part
A-appearance, the appearance of the suspect has changed substantially
C- chance meeting between victim and suspect
I- identification was not thought to be a problem by police
S- singular appearance, nobody looks the same
S- soon the victim identified the offender soon after the offence.
