why did they invade the Ruhr
. because they fell behind in paying reparations of coal and timber as well as money, they invaded to ensure and enforce that Germany would pay reparations back.
what worsened due to the invasion
> inflation increased as the government started to print more money to pay the reparation more quick.
due to the increase in printing, Germany’s economy essentially became worthless.
this led to unemployment, starvation and distrust in the government.
what happened to government in this period of 1923
- ‘grand coalition’ was created leading to Gustav Stresemann becoming chancellor.
- this ended the passive resistance and invasion of france and belgium.
why did this cause problems in politics
. people saw this surrender of Germany to allies as inexcusable.
. German nationalists caused uprisings in Germany.
. the communist party and the right wing parties had started uprisings, coups and rebellions.
