What is the definition of psychology?
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes
What are the 4 goals of psychology?
The 4 goals of psychology are description, explanation, prediction and influence.
What is the definition of description?
Descripton is just recording what people do during a certain situation.
What is the definition of explaination?
Explaination is why people react the way they do while in that certain situation.
What is the definition of prediction?
Prediction is based on the previous results, what will happen in the future.
What is the definition of influence?
Influence is how to control or change people descions in a certain situation.
What is an independent variable?
An independent variable is something that changes as a result of something else.
What is a dependant variable?
A dependant variable is something that has influence over changing something else.
What is the scientific method?
The 4 parts of the scientific method are observation, definition of the condition, hypothesis and developing a theory.
What are some problems that may occur in expirements?
Some problem that can occur in expirements are the placebo effect, the expiremental bias, the selectional bias and correlations.
What is the placebo effect?
The placebo effect occurs when the subject(s) are influence by their own expectations.
What is the expiremental bias?
The expiremental bias occurs when the expirementers see what they expect to see rather than what is really there.
What is selection bias?
The selectional bias is when people sign up for a test based on their own interest.
What are correlations?
A correlation occurs when one variable effects another variable.
