Introduction to the periodic table of elements: Unit : Arrangment of elements on the periodic table - pg. 82 - 85 Flashcards
What is the periodic table?
The periodic table is a list of all the elements arranged on a table.
What is an element?
An element is a pure substance which cannot be broken down.
Who put the periodic table together?

What were the 3 catagories Dimitri arranged the elements into?
- Metals
- Non - metals
- Semi - metals
What can semi - metals also be called?
Metalloids.
Where on the periodic table were metals arranged?
The left-hand side.
Where on the periodic table were non-metals arranged?
The right-hand side.
Where on the periodic table were semi-metals/metalloids arranged?
Between the metals and non-metals, and is arranged in a zig-zag step.
What is an atomic number?
An atomic number is the number of protons in one atom of the element.
