Introduction to Charts Flashcards
1
Q
Graticule
A
Lines of equal latitude and longitude
2
Q
Conical projections
A
Uses CONES with a SMALL CIRCLE as the Circle of Tangency. For example, a parallel of latitude
- Lamberts Projection
3
Q
Planar / Azimuthal Projections
A
Flat plane that the Earth is projected onto from opposite end of the Earth, only one point of contact.
Used for polar stereographic charts
4
Q
Cylindrical projections
A
Piece of paper is wrapped around the earth with the earth projected onto it from the centre of the earth.
Direct Mercator
5
Q
Orthomorphic chart
A
- A conformal chart
- Graticule must cross at right angles
- Scale is the same or changes equally in all directions locally
- Scale is correct and all angles are correct
- Bearings are represented accurately
6
Q
Grid MORA
A
Min off route altitude.
If you fly at this alt you clear obstacles sufficiently
7
Q
Minimum mast height on a chart
A
300ft.
If below 300, no need to report to CAA.
