Introduction to AI Flashcards
how do machines help us
Machines help us by working for us, thereby sharing our load and making it easier for us to fulfill such goals.
Humans have been developing machines which can make their lives easier
give some features of a smart phone
They can help us in navigating, recommend which songs we should listen to or which movies we should watch according to our own likes and dislikes.
Our phones can help us connect with like-minded people, make our selfies fun with face filters, help us maintain a record of our health and fitness and a lot more.
These drastic technological advancements lead us to recognize one key concept: the concept of Artificial Intelligence
define intelligence
intelligence can be defined as the ability to perceive or infer information and to retain it as knowledge to be applied towards adaptive behaviours in an environment or context.
what does intelligence involve? what are its parameters
It involves various mental abilities, like logic, reasoning, problem solving and planning. Broadly classified on following parameters: Learning from experience Identifying problems Problem solving Ability to make accurate decisions Ability to prove outcomes Ability to think logically Ability to learn and improve
what are the different types of intelligence
- mathematical logical intelligence
- linguistic intelligence
- spatial visual intelligence
- kinesthetic intelligence
- interpersonal intelligence
- intrapersonal intelligence
- naturalist intelligance
- musical intelligence
- existential intelligence
define mathematical logical intelligece
a person’s ability to measure, regulate and understand numerical symbols, abstraction and logic
define linguistic intelignce
it refers to the person’s language processing skills both in terms of understanding and implementation in writing and verbally.
define spatial visual intelligence
it is defined as the ability to perceive our visual world and infer relationships between one object to another
define kinesthetic intelligence
its the ability of a person to use his/her limbds in a skillled manner
define interpersonal intelligence
it is the ability to communicate with other people by understanding their feelings and their influence.
define intrapersonal intelligence
it can be described as the level of self awareness one has ranging from realising one’s stengths and weaknesses to own feelings.
define naturalist intelligence
it is the ability to process information in the environment around us,
musical intelligence
it is the person;s ability to recognise and create sounds, rhythms and musical patterns.
define existential inteligence
it is the type of intelligence relating to level of religious and spiritual awareness tht one possesses.
how do we make decisions?
the basis of decision is based on the availability of information and how we expereince and understand it. information over here refers to our past experiences, intuition, knowledge and self wareness.
we cant make good deciisons if we dont have enough information beacuse then we will have to deal with unkown factors and face uncertainty which would lead us to taking wild guesses, flipping coins and rolling dice. if we have some knowledge, experience or insights on a certain matter, then we can visualise the outcomes and achieve/ avoid it accordingly.
