What is the National Service Training Program Law?
Republic Act 9163, Have (3) program to boost civic awareness and youth defense readiness through training in three distinct components, fostering service ethics, patriotism, and active participation for the common good.
What are the program components of NSTP?
ROTC, LTS, CWTS
What is ROTC?
RESERVE OFFICER’S TRAINING COPRS, designed to provide MILITARY TRAINING to tertiary levels in order to motivate, organize and mobilize them for NATIONAL DEFENSE PREPAREDNESS.
What is LTS?
LITERACY TRAINING SERVICE, designed to train the STUDENTS TO TEACH LITERACY AND NUMERACY skills to school children, out of school youth and other segment of society in need of their services.
What is CWTS?
CIVIC WELFARE TRAINING SERVICE, encompasses endeavors IMPROVING COMMUNITY LIFE, enhancing facilities, and advancing areas like health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation, and morals, all aimed at benefiting citizens and providing social welfare services.
Who shall take the NSTP?
-All incoming freshmen student
-male or female enrolled
- baccalaurete and in at least (2) year technical vocational or associate course, REQUIRED: complete 1 nstp component.

How will NSTP be taken up?
academic period of (2) semester and credited for (3) units per semester with 54(min)to 90(max) training hours per semester.
What if I can’t take NSTP during regular semester?
A single (1) summer program, not two (2) semesters, could be formulated and adopted by DND, CHED, and TESDA, depending on the capacity of the school and AFP.
What if the NSTP of my choice is not offered in my school?
Schools unable to meet required student numbers for a program component or chosen by their students must permit cross-enrollment to other schools, regardless of CHED/TESDA or AFP branch. However, these students must follow rules of both original and accepting schools.
What will become of NSTP graduates?
A- Non-ROTC grads join the NSRC/ NSRC Reservist for state literacy and civic efforts.

B- ROTC grads become AFP citizen armed forces per DND requirements.
NSTP graduate will be given a unique number/code called?
NSTP serial number
How can a student continue to qualify for enlistment in the AFP reserve force?
With two semesters of Basic ROTC, He/She can join the AFP Reserve Force.
Are there any Student Incentives provided for by the NSTP?
A - DND (Department of National Defense) offers assistance/incentives for ROTC students per laws and availability of funds.
B - CHED, TESDA, and schools ensure health/accident coverage for enrolled NSTP students.
C - CHED, TESDA manage scholarships for NSTP students based on funds.
How much fee will be charged for an NSTP component?
- No fees shall be collected for any NSTP component
- except basic tuition fees
- not be more than fifty percent of the charges of the school per academic unit.
Who is RESPONSIBLE in supervising the NSTP student?
Schools supervise NSTP design, adoption, and implementation.
For ROTC, joint supervision by schools and DND.
What lead agencies will monitor the implementation of the NSTP?
= Ched Regional Offices
= TESDA Provincial and District Offices
= DND - AFP
Is the NSTP available in all schools and universities?
- All Higher and Technical-vocational educational institutions will be offering at least one of the NSTP components
- STATE universities and colleges will offer the ROTC component and at least one other NSTP component. (currently lahat na daw ng NSTP components meron na sa public)
