What are pressure groups?
“A group of like-minded individuals with shared interests or a common objective, who form an organisation to influence political decisions”
insider groups
Have a close and positive relationship with government, often
working closely with or advising government - CBI
outsider groups
Have no or very little access to government, either by choice,
or because mainstream politics excludes them, often because
their aims or methods are seen as too radical - extinction rebellion
difference in PG influence
Some pressure groups are insiders if one political party is in
government but outsiders when others are in government - unite with labour, tax payers alliance with tories
