NATIALISM:
having extreme pride in your country,
3 weakening empires at this time: Austria-Hungry, russia and ottoman(Turkey)
a feeling that we deserve our own country (Bosnians)
ALLIANCES:
two or more countries agree to defend each other if attacked
ex. France formed an alliance with Russia and Britain called the triple entente
ex. tripple alliance formed between Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy
MILITARISM:
massive build up of weapons and armies,
leads to conflict because countries wont negotiate, they just compete with each other,
Britain and Germany built huge fleets of battleships (HMS dreadnought) Germany was the most advanced,
France and Germany were trying to have the most powerful armies
IMPERIALISM:
home countries expands its control to other parts of world colonies,
leads to trouble when empires get close ad compete for colonies,
huge competition over African colonies, gold, diamonds, ivory
