What are concerns regarding disease surveillance in wild caught rodents?
Serology may be limited in sensitivity due to reliance on cross-reactivity. Use of commercial dirty-bedding sentinels relies on efficiency of transfer. HIsto and necropsy directly on wild caught animals is more expensive, and may have limited sensitivity as many zoonotic or animal disease agents cause no or nonspecific lesions.
