Introduction Flashcards
Context
Before 1945, there were many obstacles in the way of Black Americans achieving civil right. They faced de jure segregation in the South, and de facto segregation in the North. However, after 1945 black people were more assertive to the civil rights campaign and started to challenge the discrimination they faced.
Factors
Some historians argue that (isolated factor) were fundamental in the development of the civil rights movement in addition to factors such as the continuation of prejudice and discrimination, the experience of black servicemen in WW2, the emergence of black leaders, formation of effective black organisations, and the role of Martin Luther King (MLK)
Line of Argument
This essay will argue that although (isolated factor) was a significant reason for the development of the black civil rights movement, other factors such as the continuation of prejudice and discrimination were a more important reason for the development of the civil rights movement after 1945.
