introduction Flashcards

1
Q

why is there a need for the endocrine system?

A
  1. in the neural system neural coordination is fast and exact but short-lived whereas in the endocrine system chemical coordination is usually slow and widespread but long-lasting.
  2. all cells of our body are not innervated by nerve fibres but the cellular function need to be continuously regulated so a special kind of coordination and integration has to be provided. this function is carried out by endocrine system.

Q

difference between the endocrine gland and the exocrine gland?

A

endocrine gland: 1. these glands lack duct and are called ductless gland ,they pour their secretion directly into blood.
2. they secrete hormones.
exocrine gland: 1. these glands have duct.
2.they secrete enzyme
