Introduction Flashcards
What is the other name for Coordination compounds?
Complex Compounds.
Coordination or complex compounds: These are also the addition compounds which have the following properties :
(I) These compounds retain their identities
(i.e. do not lose their properties) in the solid as well as when dissolved in water or any other
ionic solvent.
(ii) Their properties are completely different from those of their individual
constituents..
Does the property of Coordination Compounds change in solids as well as in water?
No, Coordination Compounds Retain their Properties
Does the compound have same properties from individual constituents?
NO, PROPERTIES DIFFER!!
What are addition
or molecular compound?
When solutions of two or more salts in simple molecular ratio are mixed together and allowed
to evaporate, crystals of a new compound are obtained. This new compound is called addition
or molecular compound.
what is a complex ion?
A complex ion can be defined as an electrically charged radical which is obtained by the
combination of a metal cation with one or more neutral molecules or simple anions.
