What is Social Work about?
Social work is about working with individuals, groups, communities to identify, minimise and ultimately remove disadvantage associated with social arrangements
Common Social Issues (6):
Racism/inequality, ageism, sexism/gender inequality, class, location/environment, intersectionality.
Structural causes of personal problems approach:
Explores ways in which individuals, groups and communities are disempowered and marginalised.
Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) values (5):
1) Human dignity and worth.
2) Social Justice.
3) Integrity.
4) Competence.
5) Service.
