Introduction Flashcards
What is a transformer?
It is a static device that transfers power from one circuit to another circuit at constant power and constant frequency.
Parameters that are constant in a transformer?
- Constant frequency machine
- Constant power machine
- Constant flux machine
What is the type of coupling in a transformer?
Negatively coupled circuit. Windings are magnetically coupled but electrically isolated.
Why is a transformer called a phase-shifting device?
A transformer is a phase-shifting device as it offers 180° phase displacements between primary and secondary. i.e the angle between voltage and induced emf is 180°
What is the type of feedback in a transformer?
Negative feedback-controlled device
Transformer resembles which parameters?
The transformer is a two-port network with ABCD Parameters
Principle of Transformer?
Faraday’s laws of Electromagnetic Induction - Mutual Induction
