What is socioligy
The study of society- patterns of social relation ships and social interactions betteeen groups and cultures
What is a structural theory
Are concerned ejth ghe way social institutions like family and work place mould us through socialisation. The individual is deemed a puppet whos strings are pulled by society these theories focus on wider society as a collectice so are viewed to be macro approaches
What is an action theory
Defined that society is constructed and shaped by the decisions of individuals- social institutions are then shaped by thr policys thst these create . Theorys based upon assumption thst people have free will and will chopse to behave a certain way. They argue that individuals interpert society in different ways
What is the difference between consensus and conflict thoeries
Functionalists socialists see society as based on value consensus that is agreement amongst its members on tje basic values society is help together by a shared culture , marxists disagree with this however they see society as based on class conflict alone minority capitalist export poor
Functionalism- what is the organic analogy
They see society as to work like the human body and it as being made up of interellated and interdependent parts which function for and contribute to wider society. They argue society has functional prerequisites
Functionalists study yhe three subsections , functiond of institutions how does each system contribute to tje overall working of society
