What are the 2 methods for determining safety altitude, and which one do we use for our safety altitude?
A
Spot height safety altitude:
add 328ft to the highest terrain elevation then round up to nearest 100.
if this gives less than 5000ft we add 1000ft or 2000ft if over 5000ft.
Marked obstacle safety altitude:
Round up highest marked obstacle height to the nearest 100ft
add 1000ft if less than 5000ft or 2000 if more.
We then pick the highest as our safety altitude.
