Intro to Oxygenation Flashcards
Bronchiectasis
Patient burned off all the cilia on their lungs
The lungs produce a lot of mucous to compensate for the loss of cilia
Chest wall in drawing is early indicator of what
Hypoxemia
Kussmaul’s respirations
Deep, rapid breaths
Cheyne Stokes respirations
Ranges from rapid to slow to shallow respirations with periods of apnea
Pneumothorax
Puncture in lung causes air to move into pleural space
S/S of pneumothorax
Sudden sharp, pleuritic pain
Asymmetrical chest wall movement
SOB
Dead Space
Caused by pulmonary embolism where alveoli air is going in but there is no O2 pickup because no blood is going through due to clot
Nasal Cannula
1-6L
O2 concentration 24-44%
Oxymizer
1-6L
O2 concentration 24-88%
Simple Face Mask
5-10L
O2 concentration 30-50%
Nonrebreather mask
10-15L
O2 concentration greater than 60%
