A branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of oral conditions requiring surgical intervention. A branch of dentistry that deals with conditions of the mouth and jaws requiring surgery.

Approach to clinic and what to write in clinical notes

A

Approach to clinic:

  • Come to clinic early and check notes on salud.
  • Check radiographs
  • Details on whiteboard: pt details, procedure, allergies, MH
  • Correct site surgery fill out before procedure

Clinical notes:
Date, operator & assistant, LA (amount used, batch number, expiry date), state procedure (how tooth was removed), if closure was necessary, haemostasis achieved, post-op instructions both verbally and written, if any antibiotics or analgesics were given, signed by tutor and student
