What is peer to peer and who primarily uses it?
Computers functioning as servers and clients on a network. Used by small business and homes
Name one advantage and disadvantage of peer to peer.
Advantages- East to set up, less complex, lower cost, simple tasks
Disadvantages- No central admin, not as secure, not scalable, slower performance for the computers acting as servers
How would you define an end device?
Source or destination of a message
What is Intermediary device?
Connects to individual end devices. Connects multiple individual networks to form a internetwork
What is an example of a intermediary device?
Wireless router, LAN Switch, Router, Multilayer Switch
What are possible functions of intermediary devices?
Regenerate and retransmit communication signals.
Maintain information on pathways in network and internetworks.
Notify other devices of errors and communication failures
What is Network media?
Network Media provides a channel for the message from source to destination
What are three primary types of network media?
Metal wires within cables
Glass or plastic fibres
