Intro to Musculoskeletal Pathophysiology Flashcards
Elements of Patient Management
Examination Evaluation Diagnosis Prognosis Intervention Outcomes
Three primary layers
Ectoderm,Endoderm, Mesoderm
Mesoderm
Forms the musculoskeletal system
Sclerotomes
Divided by the perichordial disc
Eventually become cartilage; then the vertebrae
Perichordal disc becomes annulus
Notocord becomes nucleus
Neural Tube
Gradually differentiates into nerve tissue and becomes the spinal cord
Dermatomes
Dermis is innervated by sensory branches of the division of the spinal nerve from underlying muscles
Limbs
Limb buds appear during the 4th week
Early limb bud is a mass of cells that differentiate
Bone development
Mesenchymal cells differentiate into chondrocytes that form a cartilage model that is replaced with bone
Mesoderm
Forms the musculoskeletal system
Ectoderm
Forms the epidural layer of skin and the nervous system
Somites
Consist of scolerotomes, myotomes, and dermatomes
