Intro Stuff Flashcards
0
Q
Secondary/specific granules
A
- stain different colors depending: basophils-blue bawls, eosinophils-bright red, neutrophilic-salmon
- lactoferrin, lysozyme, Alkaline Phosphatase
1
Q
Primary granules
A
- coarse reddish (azeurophilic)
- myeloperoxidase, defensins
2
Q
CGD
A
- CGDXL: gp91
- CGDAR: gp67/gp47
- ineffective phagocytic killing: no NADPH oxidase -> no O2-
- no oxidation of NBT: blue is bad
3
Q
Reactive leukocytosis
A
- > 12,000
- elevation in LAP
- absence of abnormal cells, accompanies infectious/inflammatory process
- chronic: “left shift” (left = less mature cells), precursors in marrow increase
- release decreases as condition resolves
4
Q
Congenital neutropenia
A
- marrow cells only progress to myelocytic stage
- severe neutropenia (almost no mature functional neutrophils)
- Hx of recurrent infections/hospitalizations
