Intro/Morbidity/Mortality Flashcards
9 Bradford-Hill Criteria
Strength of association Dose response Temporality Specificity Analogy Biological plausibility Consistency Experiment Coherence
Cumulative Incidence (& when use)
New Cases in Time Period/PAR
For fixed pops
Incidence Density (& when use)
New Cases in Time Period/Total person-time of observation
For dynamic pops
Lifetime Prevalence
of cases over a lifetime/PAR
Relative Risk
Ratio of 2 incidences to display how many times more likely person w/ exposure is to develop an outcome
Cause-Specific Mortality Rate
of deaths by certain disease during time period/PAR in same period
Proportional Mortality Ratio
of deaths from given cause/all deaths for same time period
Case Fatality Rate
of deaths from given cause/number of cases for same time period
Infant Mortality Rate
of deaths in infants <1 yo/# of live births that same year
Maternal Mortality Rate
of maternal deaths in given year/# of live births same year
Direct v. Indirect AAR
Used if age specific deaths rates in pop known v. unknown
