Q

5 main cell types?

A
  • Connective tissue cells- fibroblasts, chondrocytes and osteocytes (bone)
  • Contractile tissue cells- skeletal, cardiac and smooth muscle
  • Haematopoietic cells- blood cells, immune cells and bone marrow cells
  • Neural cells- neurones and glial (support) cells
  • Epithelial cells- Cell forming continuous layers

Q

Two facts about single squamous epithelium?

  • Form a thin epithelium for exchange to occur.

- Found in alveoli and endothelium lining in blood vessels

Q

Two types of stratified squamous epithelium?

A
  • Keratinizing- Epithelial cells which produce keratin and in doing so die becoming thicker and more protective structure like skin epithelium
  • Non-keratinizing- do not undergo keratin, epithelium lining mouth, oesophagus and anus
