A

The number of people who are ill. (DALYs) Disability adjusted life years, this is the amount of years lost due to poor health

What is stage 1 in epidemiological model

A

High mortality, low life expectancy. Population restricted by famine,wars, epidemics

Stage 2 in epidemiological model

A

The rate of mortality declines, as diseases are less frequent. Life expectancy begins to grow,and population begins to grow. Often associated with medical advancements

Stage 3 in the epidemiological transition

A

Mortality continues to decline and approaches a low level. Infectious diseases are now replaced by non-communicable diseases

A

Death rates are low. Long life expectancy. Mortality is the same as stage 3 but occurs later in life due to treatments etc.
