What is sarf?
A branch of Arabic grammar which deals with word forms and patterns.
What is the meaning of صِيغة
Word-form denoting the number, gender & mood (1st, 2nd, 3rd person) of the verb.
What does الماضي signify?
Past tense - Signifies an action which has already occurred.
What does المضارع signify?
Present/Future tense (&habitual)
Signifies the occurrence of an action taking place now or an action which will take place in the future.
What is the meaning of اللازِم
Intransitive - does not require an object (مفول).
Eg يَمشِي - he is walking.
What’s is the meaning of المُتعدي?
Transitive - requires an object (مفول).
يَفتَحُ البابَ Eg
He is opening the door
What is the meaning of the term مَعرُوف ?
Active tense - the doer of the action is known.
He is doing - َيَفعَلُ
What is the meaning of the term مجهول?
Passive tense - doer of action not known.
It is being done يُفعَلُ
What is the meaning of the term ?إثبات
Positive
He is doing - يَفعلُ
What is the meaning of the term نَفي?
Negative
He is not doing - لا يَفعلُ
What is the Arabic term for root letters?
الحُروف الاَصلِية
