Intracranial Regulation Flashcards
Function of Parietal Lobe
proprioception
integration of tactile sensations
2touch discrimination
neglect syndrome
function of temporal lobe
CN8: hearing CN1: smell CN0: pheromones LOC: oriented to place Illusions / Hallucinations Fight/ Flight/ Feeding/ Fertility Dopamine release
Brain stem function
cardio-resp center
basic function
PERLA
Cerebellum function
base of all function touch finger to nose coordination balance equilibrium
Frontal lobe function
"mom" movement speech intellectual activity reasoning/ judgement
early s/s of deterioration
altered LOC and behavioral changes
unable to think rapidly and clearly, easily bewildered, poor memory and short attention span, misinterprets stimuli, judgement is impaired
confusion
not aware or oriented x3
disoriented
lethargic, somnolent, responsive to verbal or tactile stimuli but quickly drifts back to sleep
obtunded
unresponsive, may be briefly aroused by vigorous, repeated or painful stimuli, may shrink away from or grab at the source of stimuli
stupor
doesnt move spontaneously, unresponsive to stimuli, withdrawal from stimuli w/o actual arousal
semicomatose
unarousable, will not stir or moan in response to any stimulus, may exhibit non purposeful response
coma
completely unarousable and unresponsive to any ind of stimulus
deep coma
death of cerebral hemispheres but brainstem and cerebellum still work. loss of all cognitive function
persistent vegetative state
alert and fully aware and has intact cognitive abilities but is unable to communicate thru speech or movement
locked in syndrome
