Reasons Not to Seek Help
- Wishes to avoid the stigma of domestic violence
- Fear that they will not be believed
- Fear of reprisal from the abuser
- Wish to avoid police intervention
Cues of Abuse
A- Reassure the woman that she is not alone.
B- Express the belief that it is not her fault.
C- Assure confidentiality to the patient.
D-Use descriptive documentation.
E- Educate her regarding the likelihood of continued violence and the options available.
S- Assist her with a safety plan
