Shy away from (something)
To avoid or be hesitant about dealing with a particular situation or topic.
E.g., “We can’t shy away from the risks of this investment; we need to address them directly.”
Learn/know the ropes
To understand/learn the basics
E.g., Sarah is new to the project so we will have to learn the ropes this week.
Jump in
To start or engage in an activity without hesitation or delay.
E.g., “Let me jump in here to clarify the projections for the next quarter.”
Two-way street
A relationship where both parties are expected to contribute or cooperate.
E.g., “Collaboration between our teams is a two-way street; we need input from both sides to hit our targets.”
On the same page
In agreement or having a shared understanding with someone
E.g., “It’s important that finance and operations are on the same page when it comes to cost-cutting strategies.”
Out on a limb
In a vulnerable position or taking a risk (for example, risking sounding silly)
E.g., “I’m going out on a limb here, but I think we should consider reallocating the marketing budget to boost sales.”
Land on your feet
To get comfortable quickly after a challenge
E.g., “I’m confident the new product will face challenges, but we’ve experienced this before and always land on our feet.”
