Q

Walk us through your resume

A

Quick mention of schools and degrees. My first job once I received my associate’s in graphic design was working for a startup software development company as digital designer and integrated media manager. I’ve also worked for a couple boutique marketing agencies, and a non-profit before beginning my career here. The thread throughout all of these roles, including my current role has been my interest in digital content design, motion graphics and animation, and website design.

Q

Tell me about how you’ve dealt with a tough challenge

A

Last year I was design lead for the inaugural Converse brand day, conVERSE 2024 (formerly Converse Awards). The challenge was to rebrand the event and create a visual center. I collaborated with brand creative stakeholders. After many rounds of concepts, I started to strike a balance between the feedback I was receiving from our partners and the concepts I’d been pitching. I did research to back up my design choices, and created a visual story for the event that resonated with everyone’s perspective on the branding. I was dedicated to finding a solution that would energize employees around the brand and stay true to our identity.

A

My ideal dream job, right now, is this role.

27
Q

Do you have any questions for me?

A

Yes, I have several.
1. What does the day-to-day for this role look like?
2. Do any current or specific projects come to mind that you see being accomplished within the first 6 months of this role?
3. Does this role involve working out of the studio at Shraffts? And how often?
4. How would you describe the digital content and design team in one word?
5. What is the one outstanding quality you’re looking for in a candidate to succeed in this role?

28
Q

Describe yourself in three words

A

The first would be ‘entrepreneurial’ – I have a growth mindset and am not averse to taking calculated risks. The second is ‘empathetic’ – the greatest leaders I’ve worked for lead with empathy. It inspires transparency, trust, and productivity. Third would be ‘artistic’ –I see the world through the eyes of an artist. Creativity is my nature, and I believe most people are inherently creative.

29
Q

Are you interviewing with other companies?

A

Yes, I’m in the interview process with a couple other companies, but I am most interested and invested in this role and this brand.

30
Q

What didn’t you like about your last job/role?

A

I’ve been the sole designer on our team, and while I work really well independently, there are so many benefits that come with collaborating with other creatives and design professionals that I feel I’ve been missing out on from–time–to– time.

31
Q

What does your creative process look like.

A

First, I digest the creative brief and ask questions to identify the audience and define the problem. Next I gather research on trends and inspiration, as well as thoughts and ideas from teammates. I’ll then create, at the least, three concepts to present in full to stakeholders. Lastly, I test the concepts in layout, refine, and finalize assets.
