Tell me about yourself (a.k.a. What value do you bring?)
I’m a digital designer with a background in fine-art. I’m passionate about branding and bringing creative concepts to life, as well as experienced in creating content for integrated media marketing strategies. My current role is brand designer on the internal communications team. I support the broader comms team, including SCI, as well as cross-functional partners with digital content creation, presentations, installation designs, and creative concepts for internal moments.
Why is there a gap in your resume?
For a few years after college, I chose to pursue a career as a practicing artist. I practiced everyday, entered shows, got into a couple, but ultimately realized I needed a more sustainable career path.
What motivates you?
I’m motivated by challenges. I have a strong desire to solve problems using creativity and strategic thinking.
Why are you applying for this job?
I’m ready for new challenges like developing creative solutions that help drive business. This role aligns to my short-and-long term goals of upskilling my breadth of design and becoming a creative leader in digital marketing.
Walk us through your resume
Quick mention of schools and degrees. My first job once I received my associate’s in graphic design was working for a startup software development company as digital designer and integrated media manager. I’ve also worked for a couple boutique marketing agencies, and a non-profit before beginning my career here. The thread throughout all of these roles, including my current role has been my interest in digital content design, motion graphics and animation, and website design.
Why do you want to work here?
I love this brand and the people who make up this brand. I haven’t felt this amount of clarity and purpose since art school. Our purpose is clear here, to serve creators, enabling them to defy conformity. I am my best self when collaborating with like-minded individuals, and want to contribute to the legacy and future of this iconic brand.
Why are you the best person for this job?
What I have to offer in this role is a notable capacity for independent, creative thinking and confidence in what I create. I also love building teammates up to accomplish excellence together.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five to seven years, I see myself working as a creative director for a company that leverages AI as part of their digital marketing strategy, or as part of their digital or consumer electronics product.
What interests you about this position?
I’m interested in the evolution of all our digital channels with the new marketing and product strategy shifts. For example, our Love, platform and focus on Chuck, the Converse Universes, and the emphasis on our partnerships with catalysts. I’m also interested in the challenge to deliver on a creative brief.
Why are you a good fit for this position?
I Dare Greatly in everything I do. That is a brand value that I’ve lived by more than any other throughout my life. The culture here at Converse is unmatched. I also Do the Right Thing. I choose daily to give back to people, give credit where credit is due, encourage others, and connect authentically. I will bring these values everyday to this role along with my best effort and excellence in digital design.
Tell me about how you’ve dealt with a tough challenge
Last year I was design lead for the inaugural Converse brand day, conVERSE 2024 (formerly Converse Awards). The challenge was to rebrand the event and create a visual center. I collaborated with brand creative stakeholders. After many rounds of concepts, I started to strike a balance between the feedback I was receiving from our partners and the concepts I’d been pitching. I did research to back up my design choices, and created a visual story for the event that resonated with everyone’s perspective on the branding. I was dedicated to finding a solution that would energize employees around the brand and stay true to our identity.
Why should we hire you?
From what I understand about this role, you’re looking for someone with a passion for creative concepting and content creation. Someone whose interpersonal and business acumen will serve the needs of the digital content and creation team, ultimately driving measurable results for the brand. I possess the passion, experience, and skills to succeed in this role, as well as a deep interest in street style and sneaker culture, digital trends, and motion graphics. Furthermore, I’ve immersed myself in this brand’s DNA, leading the creative for internal events and visual storytelling, as well as the digital content and presentations for All Team Meetings, employee digital channels (Slack, Linkedin, and Workvivo), and most recently the image content for the relaunch of the Converse career site. I am all in on this role, this team, and the future of this brand.
What are your weaknesses?
An example of a weakness I’ve been working to overcome since I started working here is public speaking.
