Tell me about yourself

A

I am a senior @ PAAl high school I’m an honor roll student with 4.0 GPA expected graduation date JUNE 2014.
My skills are customer service,organizational,heavy lifting, and I am bilingual

On my spare time I like to go jogging,fishing, and read to my grandfather
.
I have worked as a custodian assistant at Poly high school and worked at smart and final as a sales associate.

Why do you want to work here?

A

What really attracted me to work there is that Wal-mart has been around for 60 years and like wal-mart that is still expanding I would l like to given the opportunity to grow with wal-mart, As a frequent shopper of your store. I enjoy the good customer service your whole staff provides.
Another reason, as for why I was attracted to your store is because I believe that your offer the customers more value for their bucks.

What are your strengths?

A

My strengths are my customer service, because it is important to ensure that the customer’s needs are addressed and met.
Heavy lifting. I can life up to 25 lbs.
Organization skills, being able to categorize, in order or by size different merchandise
Bilingual. I am bilingual in both Spanish, and English.

Nobody is perfect. What would you consider your weakness?

A

My weaknesses are that I procrastinating, for school I wait for the last day to finish my work,but I am working on improving on this by, when I have big projects I set small goals to slowly but, steadily accomplish the big project bit by bit..

I see my self working at Wal-mart in a higher position working full time, while I work on my major in Medicine at USC.

A

Smile and greet,then listen actively
Explain the stores products and any promotions
Ask if the customer needs help finding anything
Ask life style questions about the person the merchandise will be for.
Ask about what customer will do with them
Thank the customer for coming to the store.

(skill #2 self control) when was the last time you broke the rules?

A

There was a time where I was working in Smart & final and I was organizing canned goods and saw a co-worker struggling with carrying crates of milk to put away.
my Task was to organize all the canned goods and put out the ones that were expired to the front. i had many boxes to do. I had to finish them by the end of my shift. I noticed that he dropped a few of the crates and there was a spill.
I stopped what I was doing. I went to get a towel, and put up caution wet floor signs and quickly cleaned up the mess.
As a result, no one slipped, the manger was happy with my performances and instead of being upset, he thanked me for assisting my fellow co-worker.

(Skill #3 Team work & cooperation) Describe a time that you worked effectively with others?

A

In health class, I had a project about recycling and I had to collect 7 different categories for recycling.
I needed magnets to stick on the poster board. And I asked them to take me to a craft store and helped me find all of the materials I would use for my project.
We decided make a plan on who would have what tasks in order for the project to be effective and successful
One of my classmates would be in charge of gluing everything
Another one of my classmates was in charge of putting pieces together. I was in charge of making a visual plan in the poster, because it is easier to be put together later.
Our project was well put together, and well organized, my health teacher was fascinated by our work and gave all three of us an A+ for our hard work, and effort together.

(skill#4 service oriented) give me and example of a time a customer was unhappy with the quality of your work and explain how you handled the situation.

A

I was working in the beverage section at smart & final, organizing drinks and the customer asked me for a specific drink that was on top of the highest shelf, he was upset because I asked him to come back in a few minutes as I had to go get the ladder and I didn’t do it right away i apologized but, he left to a different aisle because he didn’t want to talk to me anymore. I immediately grabbed the ladder and climbed up the shelf and got it down for him. I decided to go look for him and give him the beverages. The customer was very pleased after I brought the beverages and thanked me for making sure he didn’t leave upset. He communicated to my manager that i was a great person and i treated him very nicely and said he would definitely be returning. My manager was satisfied with my customer service and in the next staff meeting he gave my my customer service as an example to follow for the rest of the staff.
