A

My greatest challenge in completing physician assistant school would have to be getting accepted into the program, allowing me the opportunity to become a physician assistant. I know that the program will be demanding but I have prepared myself for the work and I am determined to accomplish it.

How did you, or do you, handle blood and gore?

A

Blood and gore do not affect me. I have witnessed many injuries that have included excessive bleeding, protruding bones etc. and I discovered that I’m not disgusted by those sights. I find the injuries intriguing rather than off-putting.

A

Describe your work ethic.

A

As an AP and honor student and a person involved in various extracurricular and community activities, I have discovered that my work ethic is excellent. I manage to make time for practice and meetings all while keeping a 4.0 gpa. I learned that I am able to handle the pressure of deadlines and balance my workload.

How would you describe your overall academic performance.

A

I am proud of my academic performance. I have worked diligently in earning the grades that I have, and I’m pleased to see that my hard work pays off. However I do not consider myself a step above the rest because I well know that there are many people who have the same grades or better.

A

I believe I offer a lot to this school. I am eager to learn everything I can about this profession and medicine, I take my academics very seriously, and I present skills such as teamwork and time management that make a person successful in both the classroom and in workplace environments.

A

I am a determined, hard-working, and passionate individual. When I set a goal, I make sure that I achieve it and I will not stop until I do, no matter how long it takes. My academics are a major priority and I value respect, kindness, friendship, and honesty. I grew up participating in the sport of rodeo, in which I still compete today. I have an uncanny fascination for medicine and the anatomical structure of the human body, as well as nutrition and dietetics.

A

A physician assistant works under a physician. They can perform similar tasks to that of a doctor and even a nurse practitioner, however, also depending on the states laws, physician assistAnts cannot prescribe narcotics. Also physician assistants have the flexibility to change fields of practice.

The most negative aspect of being a pa is the number of conflicts that will occur upon any misdiagnosis, especially since today the health field

A

The highlight of my shadowing experience had to be when I was allowed to review charts and hemoglobin sheets to help diagnose patients.

A

One of the values is to let the patient refuse or accept the proposed treatment. Sometimes, in doing this the patient refuses it and goes against another value, which is that the practitioner is supposed to act on patients behalf.

A

By not ordering as many tests.

A

When working with patients a strong effort is made toward maintaining the best possible sterile environment. With that being said, infections should always be in the back of ones mind.

Abortion will always be an issue and whether or not to force a religious based hospital to provide contraception or procedures for sterility
