Why do you want to be a BC?

Answer 1

• I can anticipate the BCs orders
• People look to me for advice/direction
• New Challenge
• More worried about everyone going home safe vs being 1st on scene.
• I can make more of a difference at the BC level
• Greater role and reach regarding mentoring/developing
• Longevity
• Theres a need for BCs and I can fill that role
• Critical time in our organization and I want to the responsibility of being a part of our continued success
• 19 years on the job.

What have you done to be a BC?

• Been preparing to be a BC for 19 years,
• Always taken the busiest position/spot on a truck (Asked to stay at 154 numerous times)
• Went into admin to get different perspective.
• Always talk to Chief Officers-embraced the role of reporting and answering to many people even though I was a direct report to the Fire Chief
• Payed close attention to City Politics
• PIO
• WDC
• Prepared questions for Chief Officers
