My name is Shadrach Egerton Adwin Hingston. I am a Software Engineering student at Limkokwing University, currently in my third year. I have a strong passion for technology, especially in software development and multimedia. I enjoy coding, researching IT trends, and working on small projects to expand my knowledge. I’m excited about this opportunity at Radio Fry Fry to apply my skills in a real-world media environment.
Why do you want to intern at Radio Fry Fry?
Radio Fry Fry is a dynamic platform that blends media with technology. I want to contribute to its digital growth by enhancing the website, integrating interactive features, and optimizing content for a better user experience. This internship is a great opportunity for me to learn, collaborate, and innovate.
What do you know about Radio Fry Fry?
Radio Fry Fry is a well-known radio station in Sierra Leone that provides entertainment, news, and community-focused content. It is also recognized for engaging with young audiences through digital media. I admire how the station blends traditional radio with modern digital platforms, which is why I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to its tech innovations.
What makes you passionate about software engineering and multimedia?
I love problem-solving and creativity. Software engineering allows me to build solutions, while multimedia lets me express creativity through UI/UX design, graphics, and digital content. My goal is to use these skills to enhance user experiences in media and entertainment.
What technical skills do you bring to this internship?
I have experience in front-end and back-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. I also have skills in UI/UX design, Adobe Photoshop, and Premiere Pro for multimedia production. My ability to merge coding with creative content makes me a great fit for this role.
You attended a ChatGPT & AI workshop—how do you think AI can improve radio broadcasting?
AI can enhance radio broadcasting by using chatbots for audience interaction, AI-driven analytics for content personalization, and speech recognition for automated transcription. Machine learning can also help predict audience preferences, making programming more engaging and data-driven
You facilitated a STEM training—how does that experience contribute to your work ethic?
Facilitating the STEM training helped me develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. It also strengthened my ability to break down technical concepts for different audiences. This experience will help me work effectively in a team at Radio Fry Fry, whether in software development, content creation, or troubleshooting digital challenges.
Do you have experience working with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress?
Yes, I have experience with WordPress and other CMS platforms. I understand how to customize themes, integrate plugins, and optimize content for a better user experience. If given the opportunity, I can help Radio Fry Fry manage and enhance its website efficiently.
How do you handle tight deadlines and multiple projects?
I use time management strategies like prioritizing tasks, setting clear milestones, and breaking projects into smaller steps. I also remain adaptable and open to feedback to improve my work efficiently while maintaining quality.
How would you optimize an online radio platform for better user engagement?
I would focus on user experience, making navigation smooth and content easy to find. Adding interactive features like live chat, polls, and social media integration would enhance engagement. Performance optimization, SEO strategies, and analytics can also improve reach and audience retention
How can multimedia improve audience engagement in a radio station?
Multimedia can enhance engagement through visual content like video snippets of radio shows, interactive social media posts, and behind-the-scenes content. Live streaming on platforms like Facebook and YouTube can increase audience interaction. AI-driven recommendations and AR filters on social media can also enhance engagement.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself as a skilled software engineer specializing in multimedia applications. I aim to develop innovative solutions for the media industry, bridging the gap between technology and content creation. I also hope to contribute to the growth of digital platforms in Sierra Leone
What improvements would you suggest for Radio Fry Fry’s digital platform?
I would improve the website’s UX, making it more interactive and mobile-friendly. Adding live-streaming features, AI-powered recommendations, and better social media integration could enhance engagement. Data analytics can also help track listener behavior and optimize content delivery.
How do you work in a team, especially with non-technical colleagues?
I communicate technical concepts in simple terms and collaborate with non-technical colleagues by focusing on the project’s goals. I believe teamwork is key in a multimedia-driven environment like a radio station.
If a technical issue disrupted a live radio stream, how would you handle it?
I would first assess whether the issue is network, server, or software-related. If it’s a minor glitch, I would troubleshoot immediately. For major problems, I would switch to a backup system or inform the team while finding a long-term fix.

I would research and try to understand the task. If needed, I would ask for guidance from experienced team members. I am always open to learning new things beyond my core skill set.
How do you stay updated with the latest trends in software engineering and multimedia?
I actively research IT trends, follow tech blogs, and participate in workshops and bootcamps like the ChatGPT & AI Workshop I attended. I also practice by working on small projects to improve my skills and experiment with new technologies.
