What is Section 494 of the Criminal Code
Arrest without warrant
anyone may arrest without warrant anyone they find committing an indictable offence
or on reasonable grounds believes someone has committed a criminal offence and is being freshly pursued by someone with lawful authority
Arrest by owner
May arrest anyone on property you are responsible for if you find committing a criminal offence on or in relation to the property
a) provided you make the arrest immediately
b) within a reasonable timeframe afterward if not reasonable for police officer to make arrest
Must turn over everyone to a police officer.
What is section 25 of the criminal code?
Authorizes anyone acting lawfully in the enforcement of the law to use reasonable force in enforcement of the law.
What is section 26 of the criminal code?
Everyone authorized by law to use force is criminally liable for excessive force.
What is section 27 of the criminal code?
Use of force to prevent comission of an offence

a) offence is arrestable without warrant
b) offence would cause immediate and serious injury to property or persons
