Describe a time where you successfully influenced someone

A

As part of a public health course during medical school I went door to door in rural Croatia to the residences of patients that were flagged for colon cancer screening. With basic Croatian language skills and my medical training at hand along with an additional team member, I educated them on the benefits of a screen and the the risk of colon cancer. Later I was told that many of the individuals I had visited showed up to the local clinic for a screen.

Q

When did you work as part of a team that failed

A

In a previous sub internship at a surgical clinic, I was working as part of a surgical team on a Brazilian butt lift. The fat that had been liposuctioned from the stomach ended up going into the garbage canister instead of a sterile canister to be redistributed into the buttocks. Separating the fat into a clean container proved to be too much for the team. All members of the team, including myself failed to check the correct position of the tubing pre op. We were able to come up with a solution and apply it by rinsing the fat in an antibiotic solution before putting it back into the patient. The initial failure led to a very stressful situation in the operating room where we had only minutes to come up with a solution, but the quick thinking and swiftness it took to come back was a team effort. I came to the realization that collaboration, triage and experience is most valuable in situations like this.

Q

What can u offer that someone else can’t

A

I’m a detail-oriented, creative thinker who is constantly looking for ways to learn and grow to become a more beneficial employee. I constantly set goals for myself, and I persistently try to achieve them. I think these skills will make me a very valuable asset to the company.

17
Q

what was your biggest mistake

A

One thing I have learned from past mistakes is when to ask for help. When I first came to Miami I dwelled in the ER for too much time in bad communication with patients. I eventually asked for help and a translator was brought in. I know that it is important to be in good communication with one another and I know that that would be one of the values of your company.

18
Q

what was your biggest failure

A

Among all the failures I have faced in my professional career one of them that has taught me the biggest lesson is during college. It was time for the student body to elect president of the chemistry club. I did not produce flyers because I was confident I would be reelected. I did not win the election BUT the whole situation taught me the importance of metacognitive skills such as self evaluation and performance evaluation .

19
Q

who is your biggest mentor

A

My Dad has always been one of my biggest mentors. He instilled in me the value of hard work. He taught me the importance of never giving up.

20
Q

what are your pet peeves

A

Honestly, I try to keep focused on work, so the only real pet peeves which bother me are when people cut corners. It’s a little frustrating when people don’t fill out forms properly, for example. Weekly or monthly reminders and e-mail bulletins definitely can help stem those kinds of issues, though—you just have to be diligent.

21
Q

what makes your uncomfortable

A

I’m very organized and do my best work in environments where things are structured. On the flip side, I’m uncomfortable in situations where things are disorganized and I always try to fix disorganization when I come across it.

22
Q

How would you fire someone?

A

First, I would consult with HR about the appropriate protocol. Second, I would then inform the employee of their termination, stating the things that they did well along with those that they did poorly. Finally, I would allow them to ask any questions to ensure that any confusion or issues are addressed.

23
Q

what is your favourite and least favourite part about the industry

A

I love listening to staff, executives, senior leaders and the CMO to serve as a liaison and address all issues and come up with solutions. My least favourite part of the industry is when a terrified customer is sick or injured.

24
Q

do you have any questions

A

How soon will I be able to be productive?

What type of projects will I be able to assist on?

25
Q

what experience do you have in this field?

A

I am trained as a medical doctor so I have a lot of experience with face to face interaction with key opinion leaders. I know a lot of medical terminology and have strong communication skills. I have worked at a lot of US and international hospital so I am familiar with how these healthcare systems work.

26
Q

do you consider yourself successful

A

I consider myself successful because of my ability to get along well with others, including employers, staff, and clients. My friendly personality, coupled with my ability to communicate effectively, helps me establish relationships and achieve results, particularly in team projects.

27
Q

what would your coworkers say about you

A

I’ve been told that I am both a strong leader and a team player. In fact, multiple colleagues have offered to write me a personal letter of reference because of my strong team leadership. they have been impressed by my ability to effectively lead a group of colleagues while also listening to and considering everyone’s input as we determined the best plan of action.

28
Q

salary range

A

I don’t have a specific number in mind but I have very interested in the position.
