What can perfect intervals NEVER be ?
They can NEVER be major or minor.
If you were to take a major interval and shorten it by a semitone, what does it become ?
Major to minor

If you had a minor interval and shorten it by a semitone what does it become ?
It becomes diminished
If we have a perfect interval and shorten it by a semitone, what does it become ?
It become diminished because it can’t be minor.

What is a compound interval ?
An interval over an octave.
How do you work out a compound interval?
Bring the top note of the interval down an octave, work out the interval between the two notes, and then write compound and then the interval. Or add seven to the number of the interval.
