Interpretation: Hemodialysis Access Flashcards
peak systolic velocities and end diastolic velocities are normally both
elevated
low PSV obtained in access graft could indicate
arterial inflow problem
rounded =
prox obstruction
mL/min is same as
cc
most common site for stenosis possibly due to intimal hyperplasia or elevated arterial p
venous anastomosis and outflow v
large blood volume in venous circulation, can increase venous return resulting in
congestive heart failure
the distal arterial blood flow is reversed into venous circulation and can cause hand pain on exertion, pallor and coolness of skin distal to shunt because of pressure gradient
steal syndrome
assessment of possible steal
with dialysis access open
use PPG to eval flow in at least 2 digits one at a time
assessment of poss steal
apply manual pressure to dialysis access and
retake ppg tracing and or pressure
if flow improves, there
is a steal
if flow stays the same, there
prob not a steal
