interpolation Flashcards
linear interpolation?
: is use in mechanical movements and natural motion that moves in a constant rate.
Constant interpolation?
it’s referred to in some software as a hold frame it doesn’t ease or interpolate, it simply holds a value until it is replaced by a new value,
useful to blocking out a shot if I don’t want to be distracted by interpolation, I can setup my keys and focus on the poses rather than the motion between them.
Bezier interpolation
is the only interpolation type that have easing therefore it is the only type that have easing handles
Handles control how ?
the curves transition into and out of key frames.
There are five different handle types?
Free, aligned , vector, automatic, auto clamped
each a different combination of three separate attribute:
constant , linear and bezier
These attributes dictate whether the handles are :
- manual or automatic
- smooth or sharp transition
- aligned, clamped or unclamped
vectors handles:
are an automatic handle type that creates sharp transition.
Free handles:
are a manual handle type that also creates a sharp transitions.
Aligned handles:
are a manual handle type that creates smooth transitions.
Autoclamped:
is an automatic smooth curve, but it is clamped, unlike all the other handle types
this means it prevents the interpolation curve from exceeding its value.
Automatic handles:
create smooth transitions, but unlike autoclamped , they’re not clamped, meaning that careless uses interpolation curves can often go wild.
