A saved shortcut that directs your browser to a webpage
Plug-In
A software plug-in is an add-on for a program that adds functionality to it
Malware
Short for “malicious software,” programs designed to damage or do other unwanted actions on a computer system
USB
The most common type of computer port used to connect keyboards, mice, printers, and more
Flash Drive
A small data storage device that uses flash memory and has a built-in USB connection, also called jump drive or thumb drive
Router
Hardware device that routes data from a local area network (LAN) to another network connection
Cookies
Small amount of data saved by your web browser that remembers information about you
A file format that provides an electronic image of text or text and graphics that can be viewed, printed, and transmitted
Virus
A deliberately harmful computer program designed to create annoying glitches or destroy data
Application
Complete, self-contained programs that perform a specific function
Backup
A copy of a file or disk you make for archiving purposes
Bug
A part of a program that usually causes the computer to malfunction, often remedied in updates to the program
Clipboard
A portion of memory where the computer temporarily stores information (for cut and paste, for example)
Memory
Any device that holds computer data
Server
A central computer dedicated to sending and receiving data from other computers
Boot/Reboot
The process of reloading or reinitializing an operating system on a computer
