The Leagues Parliament: each member country had a representative. Any issue could be raised by a member and it met once a year.

Smaller than the Assembly but met four or five times a year. It could use military force and implement economic and financial sanctions. e.g. preventing trade.

A key part of the Leagues settling disputes. Based in the Hague, it was made up of judges from member countries and gave legal advice to the Assembly and council.

Worked to protect people now living in another country.
the Vilna Dispute

Poland and lithuania were two new countries created by the post-war treaties. Vilna was made the capitol of Lithuania, but most of the population was Polish. In 1920, a private Polish army simply took control. The league did not act.
Upper Silesia Plebiscite

An industrial region on the border of Germany & Poland. A vote was cast and the area was divided between the countries accordingly.

Sweden and Finland both wanted control of the island, and were threatening to fight over them. The League decided they should be given to Finland, and Sweden agreed.
Corfu

In August, an Italian general was ambushed and killed in Greece. Mussolini blamed the Greek government and demanded the execution of the murderers, but Greece did not know who they were. Mussolini occupied the Greek island Corfu, killing 15 people. The council acted quickly. Greece had to apologise and pay compensation to Italy, Italy withdrew from Corfu.

Stated that if two members were in dispute they would have to accept the League’s decision. Britain did not sign.

Greek troops invaded Bulgaria after an incidence where Greeks troops were killed by the border, The League condemned the Greeks and ordered them to pull out of Bulgaria
