• This came due to apartheid when africans from sa were forced to leave their land in order to create space for the white foreigners.
• Involved circular migration: When the black south african were being employed to work for the whites and were restricted from staying in the white settlement permanently
• Most of the migrants were used to work as labourers in the mines
• Population was concetrated where the minerals like gold was situated
