ASSUMPTION OF SIMILARITIES
It is the view that one’s own culture is superior to other civilizations.
ETHNOCENTRISM
logical extension of ethnocentrism and one of the biggest barriers to intercultural communication.
STEREOTYPES
They define stereotypes as “the perceptions or beliefs we hold about groups or individuals based on our previously formed opinions or attitudes”

act of prejudging something by presuming you are fully informed about it before you actually are.
PREJUDICE
The anxiety that results from losing all our familiar signs and symbols of social intercourse

Local context
lack of explicitness on the part of the speaker which leads to misinterpretations.

slips of the tongue and mishearing which may be due to utterances spoken quickly and unclearly.
