Intepretation of Aerial Imagery Flashcards
What is the definition of Photo Interpretation
The process of studying and gathering information required to identify the various cultural and natural features,
What are important factors to consider when interpreting a feature?
- Shape
- Size
- Tone/Colour
- Texture
- Pattern
- Shadows
- Association/Site
- Time
IS what you interpret dependant on what you see?
yes!
How do you get an Increased Angular Field when taking aerial photos?
Lower Altitude
Whats the effect of focal lengths?
Different focal lengths have different Angular Fields of View (AFOV)
What does a larger AFOV lead too?
Larger AFOV = longer B/D which leads to increases in vertical exaggeration
Principle Point?
How is it found?
Is the exact centre of a photograph.
Found by using adjacent fiducial marks.
Define NADIR
Directly under the focal plane
Relief displacement formula (D)?\
How can you find height form this?
D = r(h)/H
h = d(H)/r r = distance from nadir H = height of base of object h = height above ground level of object
Define Parallax?
The displacement of an object caused by the movement of the observer relative to that object.
