Hornsea
Groynes introduced were placed to trap sediment and act as a buffer from waves. Sediment collected helped reduce the rate of cliff retreat. Sea wall prevents wave energy influencing coast.
Mappleton
Two rock groynes trap sediment and prevent LSD. Original TGS from Hornsea has meant that Mappleton has had to do the same. Rock armour dissipates wave energy and also prevents deposition of sediment to form beaches on top of it.
Aldbrough
The lack of production on coastal defences has led to little altering of the impacts on the coast. The rate of erosion has increased due to TGS. The fast eroding coast means more sediment is accumulated through erosion in the source of an input.
Withernsea
The recurved seawall dissipates wave energy. Also does not allow for LSD to take place therefore upsetting the equilibrium within the coastal system. The rip rap used also helps dissipate wave energy and therefore impacts the energy throughout the sediment cell.
Easington
Revetments placed in front of the gas terminal dissipate wave energy and slow down the coastal regreta. The also allow less sediment to be accumulated and deposited to create a significant coastal landform.
