Intention to permanently deprive must exist at the time of appropriation. Irrelevant if the property is returned.
Unauthorised borrowing
A person cannot be guilty of theft for authorised borrowing unless it is returned with diminished practical value.
Money
Intent to deprive will exist where an equivalent amount is repaid to the victim. Owner deprived of the extract notes and coins.
Borrowed property
Only theft if the property has wholly dinimised so all goodness and virtue have gone.
