Direct-
100% aim and desire to kill
100% desire and aim for GBH
Oblique-
90% virtually certain to kill
90% virtually certain for GBH

What is direct intent?

A

The highest level of mens rea- must have an aim and desire to produce a certain result
Defendant must foresee the consequences of his actions and do everything possible to bring these about

A

Where the defendant does not have an aime and desire to kill the victim- intends one event but the actual consequences were different
Will be liable if he realised death or serious injury was a virtually certain consequence of his actions
