Definition of Intelligent Buildings
An intelligent building can be described as one that will provide for innotative and adaptable assemblies of technologies in appropriate physical, environmental and organizational settings, to enhance worker productivity, communication and overall satisfaction
Objectives of Intelligent Buildings
Building Management: The maintenance of a healthy, low cost flexible environment in which the worker has control. Tasks include the environmental control of the building including user building automation systems - climate control (HVAC) , lighting, security access, fire, maintenance, lighting controls, (HVAC) controls, access controls.
Space Management: Is the management of change and minimization of operating costs by means of computer aided facility management (CAFM)
CAD (2D/3D) - cost estimation/ databases Facility management information systems (FMIS) - Space databases - organisation databases - equipment databases - cost monitoring systems Personnel access systems
Business Management: Tasks for business management includes processing, storing and presenting information as well as communications - voice, data image, public networks, wifi, video confresncing, word processing, satalite services etc.
